Renal/Specialty Care Unit/Telemetry (4 West)

4 West is an exciting, fast-paced critical care unit, with 27 telemetry-monitored beds. Patients come to us with a variety of multi-system needs from ages 18 to 100+ years old. As BWMC's designated renal unit, we provide both peritoneal dialysis and hemodialysis (through a contract with Independent Dialysis Foundation, Inc.). Ventilators and cardiac drips are also common on our unit. You will utilize all of the skills you were taught in nursing school and still learn something new every day. The best part of your job will be working in a team environment of RN's, Patient Care Technicians and Administrative Technicians, who are friendly, caring and professional. To make sure you feel comfortable providing the complex care our patients require, Baltimore Washington Medical Center covers the full cost of a critical care course, as well as ACLS certification for all full and part-time RNs.

Elisabeth Furlow, Patient Care Technician III
"BWMC is a local community hospital that provides exceptional care. The staff is well trained, great to work with and the teamwork is extraordinary. The patients are well cared for from simple needs to complex needs. As the community grows, so has Baltimore Washington Medical Center; from the opening of the new tower to OB/GYN this fall. BWMC is an enjoyable place to work, with the opportunity to grow in one's career."

Deborah Gore, Patient Care Technician III/Monitor Technician
"I enjoy my job as a PCT III on 4 West. You never feel like you are working alone. There is always someone willing to jump in and help. Our patients are special and I feel privileged to be able to care for them. My job is meaningful and I am made to feel like I am making a contribution to the community."

Denise Brocato, RN, C
"I like working at BWMC because it is clean, friendly and a family oriented community medical center. The nurses work well together and form close relationships. Administration has a positive attitude toward the nurses. Our equipment is up-to-date and our ancillary departments are very pleasant and helpful. The community we serve is growing and Baltimore Washington Medical Center is growing to meet their needs. I would recomment BWMC to anyone interested in a fulfilling and meaningful nursing career."
