If action is what you are looking for, come join our critical care step-down team! Our Progressive Care Unit is fully monitored by telemetry. Telemetry is utilized on the Progressive Care Unit as an extension of the Emergency Department's 23-hour chest pain observation program, as well as to monitor inpatients who meet the acuity criteria for a monitored bed. The Progressive Care Unit also houses a multi-purpose procedure room that is currently being utilized to perform transesophageal echocardiograms and elective cardioversions. Our staff is caring, friendly, knowledgeable, experienced and professional.
Testimonials
"I have worked at Baltimore Washington Medical Center for the past 16 years, as it is close to home, and the cleanest hospital I have ever been in. Working on the 2nd Floor has been very rewarding and a learning experience. All staff members from all levels work as a team, making admissions, patient care, and the transferring of patients to other cardiac hospitals an easier flow. The nurse manager is very flexible with working hours to not only meet family or school obligations but the overwhelming numbers of admissions on certain shifts." - Tina Cosgrove, Administrative Technician
"I began working at BWMC in 1999, I started as a unit secretary and decided that I really loved the friendliness of the hospital and decided to pursue a career in nursing. I started working on the PCU as a new grad and really gained a lot of experience. I decided to explore a different avenue of nursing in 2007 and left the hospital. I missed the friendliness and team work of the PCU so much that I decided to return only one year later. The staff of PCU is wonderful and always willing to pitch in when you need anything.....I don't plan on leaving again. " - Carrie Davis, RN
"I have been an employee at BWMC for 26 years and I've been a PCT on PCU since it opened. This unit is a great learning experience. The staff is the best and there is a great sense of family, everyone is always willing to pitch in. Our nurse manager is fair and tries to help all of us, not only as a nurse manager but as a friend also. It?s a great pleasure to work for such a great team and institution." - Cheryl McCready, PCT
"I have worked on the Progressive Care Unit since becoming a nurse, six years ago. The nurturing environment and friendliness of the staff has helped me grow over the years to eventually becoming a charge nurse. This unit is a great place for new nurses to start out, or for experienced nurses to grow in the area of telemetry. I love the staff and the patient population we take care of. I don't see myself leaving anytime soon." - Mary Beth Tubiolo, RN, MSN
