Operating Room
Nursing in the Operating Room is purposeful and dynamic. The practice of perioperative nursing at Baltimore Washington Medical Center is fast paced, offering the employee a blend of practice within the nursing process as well as the latest in science and technology. New techniques and equipment are one of the hallmarks at Baltimore Washington . RNs at Baltimore Washington practice in large modern surgical suites that are designed to provide the nurse with efficiency in motion and ease of care delivery. Eleven major operating rooms are usually to full capacity, as well as two local rooms. Staffing is provided for both the evening and night shift; thus no weeknight evening or night call is required. A complete case cart system, pulled by the Central Services Staff, who are located adjacent to the Operating Room, helps the nurse deliver care efficiently, with more attention to the events at the surgical bedside. Newly employed registered nurses are provided with an orientation process designed to meet the special needs of each registered nurse.
The OR at Baltimore Washington Medical Center offers a variety of employment opportunities in the surgical area.
