Medical-Surgical/Pulmonary/GI (4 South)

4 South strives for team work and dedication to ensure patient satisfaction. We are a 40-bed medical surgical unit and our specialties are gastroenterology and pulmonary. Although we care for patients with diagnoses in these specialties, we also care for patients with a variety of other conditions such as uncontrolled diabetes, substance withdrawl and cellulites. In addition, we accept transfers from critical care and telemetry units of stabilized patients that presented chest pain, stroke, diabetic ketoacidosis, and patients who required monitoring after major surgery.

Many of our patients return to our floor and it is nice to get to know them and their families as we care for them when they are acutely ill.

Over 35% of the 4 South nurses are certified in the specialty of Medical Surgical nursing, and others have many years of experience. We offer a unique and satisfying learning atmosphere for new graduate nurses. The staff of 4 South is like a family including employees who have been here for many years as well as others who have just begun their tenure with us. We welcome new coworkers into a warm and friendly environment.

If you want to be surrounded by friendly, cooperative, knowledgeable, and experienced nurses as well as an excellent support staff, 4 South is the place to be.

Vania Lauer, RN

"Every day brings new challenges, and new learning opportunities on our unit. I never feel alone, in that I can always bounce ideas or problems off of a coworker. I enjoy the camaraderie here, and feel like my coworkers are my "family away from home".
