Baltimore Washington Medical Center is the only acute care hospital in Anne Arundel County to offer a full range of intensive mental health services to give every patient the strength, knowledge, confidence, and hope to live a happy and productive life including:
- Dedicated psychiatric services within the Emergency Department
- Inpatient Psychiatry
- Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP)
- Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP)
- Consultation/liaison services for medical units within the hospital at the request of the medical staff
- Case Management services specific to patients with co-occurring disorders
- Behavioral Health Support Group
- Bereavement Support Group
- Referrals to private-practice psychiatrists, therapists and other community support services
- Transportation assistance for PHP/IOP clients

The Sheppard Pratt Connection
The psychiatric services at Baltimore Washington Medical Center are managed by Sheppard Pratt Health System, a nationally known mental health center. Sheppard Pratt provides medical leadership for all psychiatric services and works to develop additional psychiatric programs at Baltimore Washington.

Inpatient Acute Care Services:
- 14 bed locked facility for adults at least 18 years of age
- Short term stay program for stabilization of acute psychiatric emergencies
- Interdisciplinary team of Psychiatrists, Nurses, Occupational Therapists, Social Workers, & Clinical Specialists
- Treatment plans individualized for patient’s specific needs
- Individual & group psychoeducational services
- Family consultation & education services
- Referrals to private-practice psychiatrists, therapists and other community support services
Partial Hospitalization / Intensive Outpatient Programs:
- Structured therapeutic environment for adults at least 18 years of age
- Individual & group psychoeducational services
- Community reintegration
- Medication stabilization
- Family consultation & education services
- Interdisciplinary team of Psychiatrists, Nurses, Occupational Therapists, & Social Workers
- Treatment plans individualized for patient’s specific needs
- Referrals to private-practice psychiatrists, therapists and other community support services
